| Hey all, I made a Amigarumi black mage and white mage this past week with my mad crocheting skillz :-) (partial excuse is my wife and I are expecting and they're cute.). - Spoiler:
Disclaimer: these are submitted for a FB contest to win FF XIII-2 based on how many likes entries receive. So, if linking to them is too cross-promotional/self-serving feel free to kill the thread. I had fun doing it though, and thought it's one other type of contest that could be fun here if anyone was so inclined (pick a PC franchise for example). Anyway, cheers!

| I have to ask, where did you get your crochet skillz?
And...you should make that kid some clothes!

| My dad taught me the real basics when I was young, it languished as skills do, then my wife is a big crafter (more knitting), so I grabbed some yarn, plunked on the couch with her, and starting making little amigarumi gifts for my nieces... some practice later and my own baby on the way, and I fused it with some nerd to make those :-)
I'll leave most of the clothes for baby in her hands though ;-) (he'll thank me later).
Cheers! | |

| Even though I have no idea what Amigarumi, I have to say I quite like them. They're....."cute" which is a word a grown man should never have to say. | |

| I had an anime phase and took some japanese language at one point. So the "chibi" cute things and the Japanese amigarumi term come a little easier.
But, long story short, grown ass man making cute dolls... ::shrug:: :-)

Everyone needs a hobby. I understand it, trust me. You should see the looks I get when I have to discuss PC hardware with people who have no clue about such things. And I can see in their eyes they want to shoot themselves for ever having asked a question about it.

Every skill is valuable. Todays world has been built on things like science etc, but also on art. Part of the video game making process is purly artistic, but to get there humans had to first learn how to make other forms of art, such as knitting. Anyways, did you ever try to take a piece of fabric and fill it with rice and than do some knitting around it and make it a ball? It makes for a decent cheap hacky sack, which is a lot of fun during those long school brakes (if your school isnt too strict lol) Where the f did my childhood go? o.O
